my story
kriol gyal frahn bileez
I have navigated through many different roles in life, but the one that remains consistent and the one I am most proud of is being a kriol gyal frahn Bileez (Belizean, Creole girl).
Growing up in Belize, creative self exploration was always encouraged – for me this looked like learning to dance ballet, playing the steel pans, crafting elaborate displays for school projects, or sometimes catching crabs for soup.
Coming from a home that promoted the involvement in these multifaceted experiences has strongly influenced my versatility, but it has also given me a strong voice to express myself, an inquisitive mind that’s always in quest for more, and a passionate soul that is dedicated and fully immersed into every tidbit of my various journeys.
My burning desire to continue learning never stops and neither does my excitement to share my knowledge, talents, and cultural traits. I believe my presence in any entity creates an interesting symbiotic relationship between myself and those I am collaborating with.
There are many other practical recollections that I could have shared, but I value and chose to show culture and personality because I believe it’s the finishing touch to any work that’s done.
After all, authenticity feeds creativity, and whilst I am a kriol gyal frahn Bileez (Belizean, Creole girl), I am also a creative with big dreams.
